Depression
What is Depression?
Depression is more than just feeling sad, it’s a serious mental health condition that affects how you think, feel, and function day to day. It can look like persistent hopelessness, losing interest in things you used to enjoy, low energy, changes in sleep or appetite, or difficulty concentrating. For many people it also carries a sense of isolation that makes reaching out feel hard. Depression doesn’t have one single cause and it can be rooted in genetics, brain chemistry, life experiences, or a combination of all three.
How we treat it
Depression responds well to a combination of medication and therapy. Antidepressants help regulate the brain chemistry underlying depression, while therapy helps identify and change the thought patterns that keep it in place. Together they produce better outcomes than either approach alone.
