Schizophrenia
What is Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a serious but treatable mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, perceives, and experiences the world. It can involve hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and a withdrawal from daily life that can make it difficult to work, maintain relationships, or care for yourself. These experiences can be frightening and confusing, both for the person living with them and for loved ones. Schizoaffective disorder is similar but does have a different approach.
How we treat it
Medication is typically a central part of managing schizophrenia, helping to reduce or eliminate psychotic symptoms. Therapy supports day-to-day functioning, helps with coping, and works alongside medication to improve quality of life. Long-term, consistent care produces the best outcomes.
